Located in Dangshan county, Suzhou city, East China's Anhui province, Dangshan Equestrianism Town was recently rated as a provincial-level characteristic town. With a planned area of 3.38 square kilometers on both sides of the ancient course of the Yellow River, it focuses on tourism as well as cultural and sports industries.

Thanks to favorable natural conditions, the town's sandy terrain -- a product of the fluvial sediments brought by the Yellow River -- is very suitable for equestrian races. At present, it has held seven international equestrian endurance races and drawn horse riders from more than 10 countries, as well as more than 500,000 spectators.

Dangshan is also the only Chinese city holding three-star level equestrian endurance events organized by the International Equestrian Federation, and "Dangshan Equestrianism" has become a calling card of Suzhou city and even of Anhui province.

The overall aim of Dangshan Equestrianism Town is to improve and optimize its industrial functions, cultural history and ecological environment, solidifying the equestrian endurance races as its brand and nourishing its culture of horsemanship.

The town, with a focus on building international top-level horseracing tracks and holding high-level international equestrian events, will become the first Chinese endurance horseracing town by deploying a complete industrial chain of various horse industry events, horse industry equipment production, breeding and auctions in a combination of training and tourism programs.

It will also actively promote such projects as a center for standardized breeding and research as well as talent training and exchange in the equine industry, and a development base for the central plain's horse culture. It will continue to extend the equestrian industry chain to advance breeding, training, riding, horse racing and horse culture along the ancient course of the Yellow River.
